Gia Lane’s Vegan Plan to Fight Fatigue Naturally

Before adopting a whole-food, plant-based lifestyle, Gia Lane believed constant tiredness was simply part of adult life. She would wake up feeling exhausted, rely on coffee to get through the day, and lose all her energy before dinner.

“I would wake up tired, push myself through the day with coffee, and then crash before dinner,” Gia says. “I honestly thought that was normal.”

Searching for the Real Cause of Her Fatigue

Although Gia tried to accept her low energy, she felt that something was not right. Her blood test results were normal, she exercised regularly, slept enough, and did not feel unusually stressed. Despite doing everything that was supposed to support good health, she continued to feel physically and mentally drained.

A conversation with her holistic nutritionist eventually helped her look at the problem differently. Instead of focusing only on sleep, exercise, or stress, the nutritionist asked Gia an important question about the type of food she was using to fuel her body.

“She asked me what I was actually fueling myself with,” Gia recalls. “That made me realize I was eating a lot of processed vegan food with long ingredient lists, including energy bars, frozen meals, and plenty of bread.”

Starting a 10-Day Whole-Food Challenge

After recognizing how much processed food she was eating, Gia decided to take on a 10-day challenge. During this period, she ate fresh, colourful, plant-based meals and avoided packaged products and artificial ingredients.

She built her meals around nutrient-rich foods such as leafy greens, legumes, quinoa, sweet potatoes, flaxseed, and colourful vegetables. Her breakfast usually included a green smoothie with flaxseed. For lunch, she often prepared a lentil salad with tahini dressing. Dinner commonly included sautéed greens, vegetables, and roasted or baked sweet potatoes.

Instead of following a strict diet plan, Gia focused on choosing foods that could naturally support her energy levels.

“I did not count calories or track macros,” she explains. “I simply asked myself, ‘Will this food give me energy?’”

Noticing a Difference Within Days

Gia began noticing positive changes within just a few days. The brain fog that had made it difficult to concentrate started to disappear. Her afternoons no longer felt slow and exhausting, and she stopped experiencing the heavy energy crash that usually happened before dinner.

Rather than feeling slightly less tired, Gia felt more active, focused, and connected to her body.

“I did not just feel less tired,” she says. “I felt alive again.”

Choosing Nourishment Over Food Labels

Gia now follows a simple approach to eating. She chooses real, plant-based food and pays attention to how different meals make her feel. Her diet is not based on perfection or strict restrictions. She still enjoys vegan pizza occasionally, but processed food is no longer the foundation of her daily meals.

Her experience also taught her that a vegan label does not automatically make a product healthy or nourishing. Instead of relying only on packaging and marketing claims, she now reads ingredient lists and focuses on foods that provide lasting energy.

Listening to the Body’s Needs

For Gia, the biggest lesson was learning to listen to her body. She discovered that constant fatigue did not have to be accepted as a normal part of adulthood. By replacing highly processed vegan products with fresh, whole plant-based foods, she found a way of eating that made her feel more energised throughout the day.

“You do not need caffeine to feel awake,” Gia says. “You need nourishment that works with your body instead of working against it.”
