Face-Framing Waves Are the Understated Hairstyle Trend Celebrities Rely On for Every Occasion

I’m going to be honest with you: the viral ‘easy’ hair trends that pop up on my TikTok FYP or Instagram feeds are often anything but. Even the simplest, quote-unquote “effortless” hairdos take me a little while to get the hang of. But I recently came across one particularly low-lift hairstyle on Instagram pages of some of Hollywood’s most beloved hairstylists (Bryce Scarlett’s and Nina Park, to name a few) that has already won me over – so, meet face-framing waves.

What Are Face-Framing Waves?

At the front of the hair, loose kinks or curls frame the face and help to give shape and structure around your face. The beauty of this hairstyle is you only have to wave the front parts of your hair to make it look like a well thought out and totally styled look.

And the best part? Face-framing waves work for all hair types, textures and lengths (from short hairstyles like bobs to longer looks), so anyone can try this (truly) low-effort style for a put-together look. It’s also an easy style for those days when you want to pull your hair up but are still looking for the structure that wearing your hair down often gives the face.

Not in the mood to wear your hair down? Buns and ponytails are also given structure by waves that frame the face.

Waves that frame your face + a loose French braid = the perfect everyday hair style.

Face-framing waves like Kaia Gerber’s only improve the natural contouring.
