Stylists Believe This Elegant Hair Colour Will Be Everywhere Once 2025 Beauty Trends Take Off

As a beauty director who compulsively glances through Instagram, it takes a very unique beauty look to stop me in my tracks. Usually the kind of photographs that attract my attention are those that feature a gorgeous face of makeup, but yesterday evening something out of the ordinary happened: I was hypnotised by a hair trend.

Not just any hair trend either, but an image of Sarah Pidgeon’s hair fashioned by one of Hollywood’s most sought after hair stylists, Bryce Scarlett, for the premiere of her new film, I Know What You Did Last Summer. What is so remarkable about this image, you ask? Pidgeon is rocking a new hair colour trend that I am calling nineties blonde. And it is, by far, the most gorgeously expensive-looking, luscious blonde hair look that I’ve ever seen. And it’s already sparked a good bit of buzz online.

In case you missed it, our beloved nineties style queen Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy will be played by Sarah Pidgeon in Ryan Murphy’s American Love Story, out next year. And when Murphy dropped preview photographs, the internet went crazy over the bleach blonde wig Pidgeon was sporting (her hair, at the time, was a deep brown).

The conclusion was that the bleached look was not near accurate enough of Bessette-Kennedy’s undoubtedly costly appearing, worn blonde hair of the nineties. So what I’m trying to communicate here is that Pidgeon’s hair has been very much in the news. Now she’s gone blonde herself, and this time, everyone is very much down with it. This actress’ new hair colour is an obvious homage to the relaxed, luxuriant nineties blonde of CBK and the brief has been nailed.

The dye job was done by colourist Kari Hill and the beauty lies in the intricacy of the work. There is a tiny root smudge of course to avoid any hard regrowth giving the whole transition a softer look, but it is the colour of the hair itself that has me jaw on the floor. Throughout, teeny-tiny, gold-hued highlights intertwine with honeyed low-lights, while dazzling ribbons of blonde surround the face to produce the most wonderfully multi-dimensional, expensive-looking blonde I’ve ever come across.

And while the colouring procedure was certainly elaborate and complex, the final overall look is reminiscent of natural hair colour — the kind of molten blonde that most stylish ladies of the nineties (CBK included, of course) carelessly swept side to side as they strode the streets of New York.

I’m telling you now, this is going to be the most popular hair colour of 2025.
