Years ago, Cleo Sparks often woke up feeling slow, with noticeable stiffness in her joints. At first, she believed it was simply a normal part of getting older. Her perspective began to change when a friend introduced her to anti-inflammatory herbs and herbal teas. Curious about their potential benefits, Cleo decided to create a simple morning ritual of her own.
How Turmeric Tea Became Part of Her Routine
What started with a single cup of turmeric tea soon became an important part of Cleo’s morning routine. For her, the experience was about much more than drinking tea.
“It’s not only the tea,” Cleo says. “It’s the quiet, the warmth and the intention behind it.”
Every morning, she takes time to carefully prepare her drink. On some days, she makes a warming blend of ginger, turmeric and cinnamon. On other days, she chooses something lighter and more refreshing, such as peppermint or fennel tea.
A Few Peaceful Minutes Before the Day Begins
After preparing her tea, Cleo sits beside the window, lights a candle and slowly takes each sip. She describes this part of the morning as “five to ten minutes of peace before the world starts talking.”
This short period of calm gives her time to breathe, reflect and begin the day without rushing. The ritual has become a personal reminder to slow down and pay attention to how she feels.
Changes in Digestion and Joint Stiffness
After following the routine consistently for several weeks, Cleo began noticing small but meaningful changes. Her digestion became more regular, and the stiffness in her joints did not feel as intense as before.
However, the emotional benefits became even more important to her than the physical changes. The simple act of starting each morning with care helped her feel calmer, more balanced and emotionally grounded.
“There is something healing about choosing to begin your day with care,” Cleo says.
Consistency Matters More Than Perfection
Cleo does not believe that the herbs she uses are magical solutions. Instead, she feels that the consistency, awareness and peaceful nature of the ritual are what make the greatest difference.
Taking a few minutes for herself each morning reminds her that her comfort and well-being are important.
“It makes me realise first thing in the morning that I deserve to feel good,” she explains.
Creating a Personal Morning Ceremony
Cleo now encourages other people to create their own simple morning ceremonies. The routine does not necessarily need to include herbal tea. It could involve drinking warm lemon water, sitting quietly, practising deep breathing or spending five minutes away from phones and other distractions.
She also advises people not to feel pressured into following an extreme wellness plan or complete detox programme. According to Cleo, meaningful self-care can begin with one small and manageable action.
“You only need one small act of kindness towards yourself every day,” she says.
